I.D.E.A. Museum Soundscape Zen Den

An interactive environment that creates sound in response to movement and position of humans within a geodesic dome.

Named the Zen Den, the project inspires a focus on meditation, stillness, and listening. Five benches line the dome, each with a different sound layer. The longer you sit in stillness, the richer the environment around you becomes. If you move too much, the sounds around you quiet, inspiring you to sit still.

Real documentation video coming soon. In the meantime, please enjoy this video of my very zen newborn baby helping me code (and debug those pesky seagulls!)

A different soundscape exhibit was originally on display at the I.D.E.A. Museum in Mesa, AZ from feb 2014 to jan 2018. See it here.
